What is the benefit of attic insulation?
Heating and cooling account for more than half of the energy use in a typical U.S. home*, making it the largest energy expense for most homes. You will save on your energy costs if you reduce the amount of energy needed for heating and cooling. Insulation helps your home retain heat in cold weather and reject heat in warm seasons.
Doesn't my house already have insulation?
The insulation you have may be inadequate or improperly installed. It is also possible that the R-value of your existing insulation has degraded over the years.
If your home has drafty rooms, uneven temperature between rooms, high heating or cooling bills, or ice dams in winter, we recommend inspecting your insulation. Even in newer homes, additional attic insulation could save money in reduced utility bills, and those savings can continue year after year. Upgraded attic insulation may also increase the value of your home.
